David Donohoe has practiced law in British Columbia for over 40 years. He is a graduate of McGill University and obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia. David was awarded the Law Society Gold Medal and Prize for ranking as the top student in his graduating class, and was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship. He attended the London School of Economics in London, England and obtained a Master of Laws degree.
His numerous presentations in court on behalf of his clients have provided him with extensive experience in trials, arbitrations, settlements and negotiated resolutions. His experience in appeals includes many appeals before the BC Court of Appeal, several before the Federal Court of Appeal and several appearances as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada. These Supreme Court of Canada cases include Hollis v. Dow Corning Corporation in which Mr. Donohoe acted for Dow Corning and Shell Canada Products Ltd. v. City of Vancouver in which Mr. Donohoe acted for Shell. He has also acted for many clients in a wide variety of litigation cases relating to:

David was a partner with a large downtown Vancouver law firm prior to opening his own practice in 1997. He has served on the National Council of the Canadian Bar Association, the Provincial Council of the BC branch of the Canadian Bar Association and acted as Chairman of the Civil Litigation Section – Vancouver of the Canadian Bar Association. He has also been a member of the CBA’s Practice Advisory Panel on Civil Litigation, which assists junior members of the bar with practical advice.
